FOR YOUR BUSINESS...If you already conduct a work-place campaign, or it's your first time, the six tips below will help you achieve success! For a more in-depth campaign plan, download our Campaign Toolkit here.
CAMPAIGN TIP #1 - Promote Your Campaign
Promote your campaign as a short, fun event that happens once a year. Inform employees of campaign dates and provide them with plenty of information using the following resources:
Group presentations, Letter from your CEO, Posters, Flyers, E-mail and or voice mail, Speakers, Employee testimonials, Food, clothing and/or volunteer drive for a United Way agency, United Way quiz, Special company campaign newsletter, Thermometer goal posters, Lunchroom table tents with United Way facts, Payroll inserts
CAMPAIGN TIP #2 - Create Awareness
Create awareness with posters, banners and signs. As campaign time approaches and throughout your campaign, these identifiers can help build excitement and employee involvement within your facility.
Traditional areas for display of these items are cafeteria walls, hallways, human resource offices, lobbies and other high traffic areas.
Ask your United Way representative for these supplies.
CAMPAIGN TIP #3 - Communicate with your local United Way for supplies, information, support…
Your local United Way has the following useful campaign supplies: Brochures, pledge cards, thank you pins, posters, note cards, table tents and goal thermometers.
Your local United Way has history and facts about the organization.
Your local United Way can provide answers, support and training for your internal fund-drive.

CAMPAIGN TIP #4 - Use Activities & Incentives
Activities and Incentives can make your campaign a fun event and something to look forward to. Use any of these ideas or some of your own:
Win a preferred parking spot, hold an on-site agency visit, hold a United Way recognition day, hold a baby picture guessing game, have an employee picnic, hold a Halloween costume contest , hold a Pumpkin carving contest, win a day off with pay, hold a silent auction, win small prizes in a Lollipop pull or wheel of fortune game, hold an ice cream social
CAMPAIGN TIP #5 - Track your Campaign Goal
After you set your campaign goal, track it. Goal thermometers are great tools for tracking the financial progress of your corporate, regional or departmental campaign goals. These are best displayed in common areas. There are several styles and designs from which to choose. Just ask your United Way Representative.
CAMPAIGN TIP #6 - Thank & Recognize
The thank you is an important part of every campaign. Be sure to thank donors, campaign coordinators, leadership contributors and other volunteers for their contributions to the campaign. Consider the following: Have thank you posters from United Way, display campaign results prominently, give thank you pin and note to each donor, have an award luncheon or celebration, hold a party hosted by CEO, have Award/Recognition presentations, give campaign mementos (Catalog available from local UW), write articles in the company newsletter with donor names, photos, news articles thanking campaign volunteers.
The Northwoods United Way recognizes individual donors through The Northwoods League.
