ALZHEIMER’S ASSOC. - Serves and supports the interests and needs of all affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Offers support groups for families and professionals, a 24-hour telephone help line, educational workshops/seminars, resource library, nursing home training and a quarterly newsletter. AMERICAN RED CROSS, Forest, Oneida and Vilas Counties - Educates the community in safety and first aid. Provides adequate blood supplies for the community and provides emergency disaster services and assistance to military and civilian personnel. ASCENSION CHURCH PLAYGROUP -Offers pre-school playgroups for all families while providing socialization, opportunities for newcomers to become acquainted, parenting education and information on other activities for families. Contact/Phone: Lynn Simpson/Nancy Scott (715) 356-4426

BIG BROTHER/BIG SISTERS of the NORTHWOODS - Offers girls and boys an opportunity for an on-going one-to-one social, educational and nurturing experience with a concerned adult or adult couple. CAMP FIRE U.S.A. - Provides youth with the means to develop self-esteem and skills in self-reliance and citizenship. Campfire sponsors a city-wide Halloween Party, educational activities, camp programming, baby-sitting courses, first aid courses, CPR, anti-smoking and many others. FAMILY RESOURCE CONNECTION - Provides family support, education, parent/child activities, information and referral services, workshops, advocacy for families and children and coordination of family centered community activities. GIRL SCOUTS of the Northwestern Great Lakes -  Inspires girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and service that they may become happy, resourceful citizens. This is accomplished by developing self potential, relating to others, developing values and contributing to society. Girl Scouts offers educational programs and health and fitness classes to all girls, including minority, low income and hearing impaired. HEADWATERS, INC. - Provides a program for adults with disabilities and children, birth to three, with special needs. Their activities include job placement, vocational assessment, computer classes for adults with disabilities and an infant development program. KIDS IN NEED - Provides a community-based, tri-county volunteer organization that is devoted to the provision of a support network for youth and their families who are experiencing runaway or potential runaway situations. The organization offers a 24-hour hotline, volunteer telephone crisis response and a referral/crisis counseling service. KINSHIP OF THE NORTH - Establishes relationships between caring, adult volunteers and children in need, with the intent that this friendship will promote stability, consistency and positive role modeling. Lac du Flambeau DOMESTIC ABUSE PROGRAM - Offers support services to domestic abuse and sexual assault victims and their families. They work to reduce the incidence of domestic abuse within Native American communities and promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being. They also educate and inform the general public about the causes and effects of domestic abuse. LAKELAND RETIREMENT FOUNDATION - Provides services which will assist residents ages 55 and older, to greater longevity as healthy and active members of the community. Enhances the quality of life for those persons whose activities may be limited by physical or emotional handicaps. LAKELAND UNION HIGH SCHOOL JOURNEY PROGRAM - Serves high school students, focusing on those that are under-served, high-need and at-risk by providing field trips that encourage trust building, challenge activities, team building and communication skills. RHINELANDER SOCCER ASSOC. - Provides instruction and competition in soccer to all area youth which in turn provides an effective, preventative human care service. Children from ages 5-13 years are allowed to play at least half of each game. Personal growth through skill enhancement, team play and cooperation are stressed over win/loss records. SAMOSET COUNTIL BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA - Teaches values in young people and prepares them to make ethical choices over their lifetime. Some programs include Family Life Education, Drug Abuse and Alcohol Prevention, Crime Prevention, Job Finding/Placement and Referral, Emergency Assistance, Social Understanding and Educational Opportunities for the Youth with Special Needs. VILAS CO COMM ON AGING - Enhances the quality of life of older adults by offering home delivered meals, counseling, family support, handyman program, nutrition program, chore services, escort and transportation services, a newsletter and a benefits specialist and much more.
